When I accepted the job as President of the Canadian Volvo Club, I knew that my main goal for 2022 would be to see to it that the annual Family Day event went smoothly. I did not honestly know what to expect in terms of attendance after two years of COVID-19 cancellations, and I quickly came to grasp the scope of what is required to plan such an event.
And what an event it was! My expectations were surpassed in the best way imaginable. The weather was perfect, 122 Volvos of all types showed up, and you all made the event truly come alive. I saw some gorgeous and unique Volvos, and the pride of ownership was evident for each and every vehicle in attendance. I found great joy in introducing myself to many of you throughout the day, and I hope it will not be the last time we cross paths. I want to extend a huge thank you ALL of our wonderful volunteers for giving their time to the numerous jobs required to make Family Day possible. This includes setup and takedown before and after the event, gatekeepers at the front admitting cars, running the flea market, processing memberships, assembling the gift packages, and many other tasks. A full list of volunteers will be published under the Acknowledgements section, as will the winners of the People’s Choice Awards.
I also want to draw attention to our corporate sponsors for their roles in making our 40th Family Day event a success. First and foremost, a big thank you to Volvo Car Canada for not only providing the plaques for the People’s Choice award winners, but for also donating many of the prizes found in the “goodie bags” given away at the front gate.
I also want to thank Volvo dealers across the province for their generous and continued support. The wonderful selection of door prizes that enabled so many of you to leave with something extra special came from are greatly appreciated! We had donations from Volvo of Mississauga, Volvo Metro West, Volvo Cars Waterloo, Leavens Volvo Cars London, Hamilton Volvo, and DRD Distributing. Thank you!
We also had great food on offer throughout the day, courtesy of Bryanston-Birr Optimist Club, and the loudspeaker system was generously provided by MMC Productions.
Finally, last but certainly not least, I want to extend a thank you to the other members of the CVC Executive who put in a great deal of time and effort into the planning, organizing, and management of the event!
It takes a strong team to make the Family Day show come together in such spectacular fashion; on behalf of the entire CVC Executive THANK YOU to each of you! I look forward to seeing you all next summer!
Until next time, drive safely!
